Schools Sport- The Wolves Way
Premier League School Sport is a new PL initiative that aims to increase the quality of curriculum coaching available to primary school children.
Wolves Community Trust’s specialised coaches are able to deliver fun and exciting sessions within schools during curriculum time, completely free of charge.
Our Premier League School Sport Team will deliver 6x1 hour lessons following a progressive scheme of work to every child in the school, with each lesson being differentiated to ensure every child reaches their full potential. The programme is also designed to provide CPD opportunities, resources and support to school teaching staff.
Following the delivery of the 6 programme, each pupil will receive a ‘Wolves Community Trust Golden Ticket’ which entitles them to access 4 of our weekly participation activities within the city free of charge.
We have developed a PPA programme to cater for all children in Primary Schools, which allow teachers to either gain CPD opportunities, or to use the lesson time for other purposes.
These curriculum lessons are planned and structured in a way that helps develop each and every individual. Our coaches are qualified in various fields, covering a range of activities from invasion games and striking/fielding, to multi-skill FUNdamental games for KS1.
The delivery programme is based around the new curriculum and can be adapted for specific school needs, with on-going assessments for each class.
We are able to offer full or half day packages, with full flexibility to be able to meet the needs of each school.
Schools can also tag on an After-School and/or Lunch-Time club onto the PPA delivery for a reduced cost.
Wolves Community Trust offers a range of after-school clubs throughout schools in Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas providing primary school pupils the opportunity to access a well-rounded and enjoyable programme.
After school clubs typically run for an hour after the school day has finished and focus on developing a range of fundamental movements and sports specific skills each week. The sessions provide a safe environment and encourage an enjoyable end to the school day.
Wolves Community Trust offers a range of after-school activities including:
- Tag Rugby
- Hockey (Kwik-Sticks)
- Striking and Fielding
Lunch Time Clubs
Our Lunch Clubs offers children the ideal way to keep active during their lunch break. We can provide multi-skills, structured activities/ competitions or a playground leaders’ programme.
- Multi-skills lunch clubs will test your children in a range of areas including speed, agility and coordination as well as learning a range of fun games. We aim to be as inclusive and engaging as possible and will adapt our delivery to the group.
- Structured lunch-time matches incorporate a variety of different sports (which can be chosen by the school) and encourage children to learn the rules and skills in order to compete successfully. This can be particularly useful if groups struggle with behaviour at lunch-time or you would like to develop a school sports team. These sessions are a proven way of tackling poor behaviour at lunch-times by Wolves Community Trust staff managing the small sided games effectively.
- Playground leader’s programme encourages the older children (year 5/6) to learn to facilitate and manage activities for the younger children in the school. With the help of our specialist coaches, the leaders will learn how to set-up, run, adapt and manage games while providing an excellent role model for the younger pupils. This option requires us to work with the group chosen by the school for 4 x 1 hour lessons, in which two hours will take place inside the classroom, and two in a practical setting at the school.
