Walking football session's surprise visit

A Black Country in Motion walking football session turned into a competitive battle with the arrival of two professional footballers.

Dominic Iorfa and Kortnèy Hausè, who both play for Wolverhampton Wanderers, dropped in to pay a visit to the Monday evening session of walking football at the Bert Williams leisure centre in Bilston. Black Country in Motion, part of Sport England's "Get Healthy, Get in to activity" programme is delivered by Wolves Community Trust on behalf of the Black Country Consortium. Both Dominic and Kortney took the opportunity to see some of the work that the trust delivers and to cheer on those participating.

The session was a 'Just for fun' session which focuses on the enjoyment and taking part but also has a strong social aspect to it. Both Iorfa and Hausè chatted with participants and signed a few autographs before they joined in to show off their skills.

One of the participants said:

"It was great to have them join in as they hadn't heard of walking football before. I think we managed to show them a few tricks which hopefully we'll see in their next game!"

The participants themselves will soon be finding out what it feels like to play on the pitch at Molineux with a Walking Football tournament at the stadium on 28th May.

Anyone wanting to take part in the next session or to find out more about walking football should visit http://www.wolvescommunitytrust.org.uk/ or call Rachel Smith on 01902 687039
