Wolves Fans Launch Sir Jack Statue Fundraising Campaign

Fans and community leaders have today announced their plans to back the Sir Jack Hayward Statue project, with a supporter and community fundraising campaign.

Members of the Wolves Fans Parliament, Wolves Disabled Supporters Association, Wolves Former Players Association, Business Leaders and other supporters have approached the Club and City of Wolverhampton Council with a range of ideas to contribute to the project.

The current cost estimate of the Sir Jack Statue - along with associated groundworks - is £250,000.

The aim will be to help fund this amount, along with a special plaque to reflect the fans and community's contribution.

Steve Galloway, member of the Wolves Fans Parliament and Wolves supporter, said.

"At a Wolves Fans Parliament meeting a number of months ago, I raised an idea of a 'tenner for Sir Jack' on behalf of a fellow fan.

"Sir Jack sold the Club for £10 and its's the symbolic act of those fans, who can afford it, donating that amount or whatever they can spare, to help create a very special statue for the great man.

"We want the statue, which will hopefully exist for many, many years, stating that it was helped and supported by Wolves fans and the community."

Jason Guy, Chief Executive, First 4 Staff, Wolves supporter and charity fundraiser, said,

"Sir Jack meant so much to the Wolves family and the City. As a group of fans, we just want to play our part in making the statue happen and helping to get other fans and the community involved.

"Wolves fans come from all walks of life, based in all parts of the world, and we want to engage as many people as possible in the fundraising plans.

"On one of Sir Jack's final visits to the Club, he wrote the words 'Glad to have helped, ' in the Museum's visitors' book. I'm sure those words will be in the mind of every Wolves fans when they contribute their time, or whatever they can afford, to the campaign.

Kevin Rogers, Chief Executive of Paycare, Vice-President of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce and Wolves supporters, said,

"The Sir Jack statue project is important for so many reasons.

"It will not only be a fitting, final tribute to Sir Jack, but an important piece of public art, which will bring his achievements to the attention of future generations.

"I know there are many local business people, who are also Wolves fans, and I'll be working, along with the rest of the fundraising team, to bring the project to their attention."

Jez Moxey, Chief Executive, Wolves, said,

"We'd like to thank everyone who has contacted the Club with ideas and offers of assistance.

"It's fitting and very heartening to hear that fans want to give something back to Sir Jack and get involved in this unique project.

"The final statue design is currently being narrowed down and we'll share the details at the earliest opportunity."

There are different ways for fans to donate:
