Peace for All

A Wolves Premier League Primary Stars event, Peace for All, was held at the Molineux Stadium on Thursday 16th November during Inter Faith week. Inter Faith week ran from the 11th to 18th November this year to promote understanding between people of different religious and non-religious beliefs, as well as encouraging greater interaction between people of different backgrounds.

160 pupils from four schools (Nishkam Primary, Islamic Preparatory, St Paul's CE Primary and St Stephen's Primary) attended the PSHE event, representing the Sikh, Muslim, Christian and Catholic faiths. They took part in the British values workshops, which included various pupils performing their own poems and singing religious songs.

All who attended, including the Deputy Mayor of Wolverhampton, got involved in the event. One part being the Tree of Hope where attendees were asked to write down, on paper leaves, one thing they would like to see happen in their future. These colourful leaves were then hung up on the tree which made for a lovely display.

A year 5 pupil from St Pauls CE Primary School talked to us about the event:

"Today I have learnt about other faiths and beliefs, it's important to know how other people live."

An Islamic Preparatory School pupil added how it's important to "not make fun of each other because we are all equal."

The Headteacher of Islamic preparatory school said in regards to Peace For All:

"Being part of not just Britain but also global society is that we need to care for each other and be there for one another. Today's event promotes those types of values, the types of images that we would like people to see and the type of life people need to live."
