Footballing Academy Launched For Young Talent

A football academy to help train the next generation of sporting talent has kicked off at City of Wolverhampton College.

Wolves and Wolverhampton College Academy, which is being run at the college's Wellington Road campus in partnership with Wolves Community Trust, aims to help youngsters considering a career in the coaching industry make their first steps in to the sector.

The Wolves Community Trust endorsed course will see students have access to the Wolves training ground at Compton Park, with lessons delivered by a Wolves Community Trust UEFA B qualified coach.

They will pick up a Level 3 Diploma in sport while gaining skills in sports coaching, fitness training and sports psychology, picking up FA badges and competing in a national football league.

Curriculum Manager Dan Clarke said:

"This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to pursue a career in sport to work alongside professionals and gain a first-class experience of coaching while also picking up the qualifications they need to move forward.

Jonathan Warburton, Education Development Officer at Wolves Community Trust, added:

"Wolves Community Trust are delighted to be working with the City of Wolverhampton College in providing unique sporting experiences for their students.

"This is a great way for the young people in Wolverhampton to access a sports specific course that will give them the opportunity to study and play football under the Wolves banner."
